Introduction

Our Portfolio - Introduction Print
Our strategy in Private Equity builds on the strength of a portfolio of listed investments providing a stable revenue base. Our overall portfolio allocation reflects this positioning.

Listed Investments
Large interests in well-established businesses such as Arcelor Mittal, RTL Group or SES Global represent well over 40% of BIP’s assets. These global players have a track record of steady growth reflecting leading market positions and excellence in their fields.
BIP continually expands the scope of listed investments to other small and mid-sized companies offering attractive growth perspectives. We aim to develop privileged relationships with these firms, offering opportunities for mutual benefits. Investments in this category represent a limited number of holdings, each amounting to at least EUR 6 million investment.

Listed investments are usually held for several years, with no defined exit horizon. However, we regularly make upward or downward adjustments to take advantage of trading opportunities.
Private Equity Investments
BIP‘s Private Equity (PE) business covers Late Stage Venture Capital (VC) and Buyouts.
Venture Capital

Our Venture Capital business centres on investments of up to EUR 5 million. Acting as involved partners, we provide equity or equity-like financing to promising projects without interfering in day-to-day management. A main focus for BIP is growth capital, i.e. investments in existing firms with a track record implementing major expansion plans, Special attention, although not exclusive attention, is given to projects involving high technology.

Buyouts

BIP offers ambitious entrepreneurs or management teams a wide variety of debt and equity financing options to take over control of existing businesses. These range from ordinary shares and convertible bonds to preferred shares, senior mezzanine finance with an equity kicker and high yield debt. The typical investment size considered in this category is between EUR 5 million and EUR 15 million.

Venture Capital funds

Complementing its direct Private Equity investments, BIP also holds investments in specialized funds. This indirect investment activity will gradually be discontinued.

BIP has grouped its fund investments as well as other PE investments in a dedicated fully-owned investment vehicle called “BIP Venture Partners S.A., SICAR”.
